Artificial intelligence (AI) can’t feel me: Lower perceived perspective–taking impedes human–AI cooperation

This study found that people’s reluctance to cooperate with AI stems from their difficulty in perceiving perspective-taking from AI. Enhancing AI’s ability to accurately assess, or even slightly overestimate rather than underestimate, individuals’ emotional and cognitive experiences can make people more likely to perceive perspective-taking from AI, thereby increasing their willingness to cooperate with it.
