We cultured CHO K1, a Chinese Hamster (Cricetulus griseus) Ovary derived established cell line on several semiconductor materials. The materials are listed below: Al: Aluminium Pt: Platinum SiN: Silicon nitride SiO2: Silicon dioxide TaN: Tantalum nitride TiN: Titanium nitride. Small silicon wafer fragments (approx. 2 cm x 2 cm) were placed in plastic petri dish and soaked in 5 ml culture medium. We spread 5x10^6 CHO-K1 cells into the culture medium. After 24 hours, the cells on the fragments were harvested using Accutase(TM).
