The mTORC1 signaling pathway regulates cellular growth in response to nutrient availability, such as amino acids. Using cryo-EM, we are investigating how protein sensors (macromolecules) interact with nutrients (small molecules) and how these interactions regulate the activity of the mTORC1 pathway. With our research, we will reveal the fundamental principles of how cells sense nutrients, and also contribute to the development of novel therapeutic strategies against diseases of cellular growth, such as cancer.
