Environmental survey of two interim dumpsites, Middle Atlantic Bight from 1973-11-05 to 1973-11-10 (NCEI Accession 7501280)

A second oceanographic survey cruise was made to an interim municipal sludge dumpsite and initially to an interim dumpsite for the disposal of industrial acid waste in the fall of 1973. Both sites are located on the continental shelf in the Middle Atlantic Bight. Observation were made of hydrographic and bathymetric conditions, major circulation patterns, water quality, sediment composition, heavy metals in sediments and biota, bacteriology, phytoplankton and zooplankton communities, vertebrates and benthic invertebrates.
