Microbial community with or without mature compost addition

This study aimed to assess the influence of mature compost addition on composting process, microbial community succession and corresponding metabolic function during FW composting. Two pilot scale composting experiments (1 m3) were conducted with or without mature compost addition in the present study. The specific objectives of this study were to: 1) determine the effect of mature compost addition on composting process; 2) investigate the characterization of inoculation of mature compost on bacterial community succession, identify the key bacteria and analyze the change of metabolic function; 3) discuss the relationship between environmental parameters and key bacteria. These results would provide a deeper understanding on the underlying mechanisms of bacterial community succession and microbial function with mature compost addition.
