资源简介:
The Cyprus Coal Rockshelter (5RT345) is located in a lower montane
environmental zone in Routt County, Colorado. This rockshelter yielded
radiocarbon ages varying from 7300 to 1080 BP, reflecting its use for thousands
of years. The site included house pits, slab-lined features, groundstone, and
other evidence of occupation. Some of the groundstone yielded traces of red
ochre and pictographs were noted on the sandstone. Pollen analysis was
undertaken on stratigraphic samples from a pollen column to examine cultural
debris in the rockshelter for evidence of use of native resources, as well as for
evidence to define local vegetation. Five pieces of groundstone were washed for
their pollen content to interpret use of the groundstone.
