Studying the daunorubicin-mediated inhibition of T5-like phage Bas33

T5-like phages were shown to be inhibited by the DNA intercalating compound Daunorubicin. To investigate the mechanism of action, transcriptomics via RNA-sequencing was performed to define the step of phage infection interference using Bas33 as a model phage. To this end, E. coli K-12 MG1655 DRM was infected with Bas33 in presence and absence of 5 µM daunorubicin at cells were harvested at 20 min post infection.
