Research Data Management (RDM) Practices in Kenyan Universities

Description: This dataset was collected as part of a PhD study investigating the status, practices, challenges, and enablers of research data management (RDM) in Kenyan universities. The research employed a mixed-methods research design, targeting researchers, university librarians and research directors of selected public and private universities in Kenya. Contents: The dataset comprises structured responses collected using a standardized questionnaire. Key variables include: Demographics (e.g., institution type, department, role, research experience) RDM Awareness and Training Data Management Planning Practices Data Storage and Backup Strategies Data Sharing and Reuse Attitudes Policies and Institutional Support Use of Repositories and RDM Tools Challenges in Implementing RDM Perceived Benefits and Barriers Responses were captured using Likert scales, multiple-choice items, and rating matrices. Sample Size and Scope: Data was collected from 6 universities A total of 306 respondents participated. Data was analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics, including frequencies, means, crosstabulations, and regression analysis.
