NRS-14665 | Files relating to licenses for depots, homes and hostels [Early Childhood Services, Department of Community Services]

Under the terms of the Child Welfare Act (No. 17 of 1939) Part IV, depots were established for the temporary accommodation and maintenance of children and young persons, homes for the reception and maintenance of physically defective and invalid or sick children and babies, and children admitted to State control, and hostels for the maintenance and accommodation of expectant and nursing mothers, wards and ex-wards. The depots, homes and hostels were controlled by the Minister and regularly inspected by Department officers. These files comprised a 5% random annual sample of license applications to operate the above. The files include copies of the license, reports by Departmental officers and correspondence.(12/3893-3912). 20 boxes.
