Paraburkholderia terrae KU-46 was isolated as a 2,4-dinitrophenol-degrading bacterium. This strain metabolizes 2,4-dinitrophenol through the formation of nitrophenol, a pathway unseen by other 2,4-dinitrophenol utilizers. The complete genome sequence of the strain will help accelerate the research progress in understanding the molecular mechanisms of the 2,4-dinitrophenol degradation and how the degrading bacteria acquire new degradation capabilities.
