As an endemic species in China, Sphagnum multifibrosum plays a vital role in carbon sequestration and nitrogen fixation in peatlands. The realization of these ecological functions is inseparable from its endophytic bacteria, and the structure of the endophytic bacterial community is regulated by macroclimate, microhabitats, and host genetics. We employed high-throughput sequencing technology to sequence the 16S rRNA gene and nifH gene of endophytic bacteria from 5 Sphagnum multifibrosum populations growing on two different substrates. This study aims to explore the dominant factors shaping the endophytic bacterial community of Sphagnum multifibrosum, as well as whether there are differences in the functions of endophytic bacteria from Sphagnum multifibrosum across different habitats, thereby revealing the important significance and priority of wetland conservation.
