Four trenches were cut through a low lying playa surrounded by large eolian dune piles
and sand sheets in the Tularosa Basin of New Mexico. Six sediment samples from three of the
trenches (Geological Trench 1 and 2 and FB 16008) were submitted for pollen and diatom
analysis.
