The study goals include: 1) to obtain the genomic sequence from this nitrogen fixing bacterial strain recommended as sugarcane inoculant; 2) to annotate coding sequences of the bacterial genome; and 3) to perform comparative analyses with genomes from other four nitrogen-fixing, sugarcane-associated bacterial strains. Results will help to elucidate the bacterial genetic elements involved in sugarcane growth promotion.
