To examine the effects of 17 alpha-estradiol (17aE2) at the earliest phases of Alzheimer's disease development, we used 10-month-old APOE3 or APOE4 targeted replacement male mice maintained for 20 weeks on normal chow in the absence or presence of 14.4 ppm 17aE2. At the end of the 20 weeks, microglia were isolated and bulk RNA was extracted for sequencing.
