Global Urban Biodiversity Potential Dataset at 0.04166° Spatial Resolution

Urban biodiversity is increasingly recognized as a key component of sustainable urban development and SDG 11.7. However, globally consistent spatial datasets describing urban biodiversity potential remain scarce. This dataset integrates global vascular plant alpha diversity, forest tree richness, IUCN species richness and the Global Urban-Rural Settlement (GURS) dataset. All datasets were standardized to a common spatial grid (0.04166°, EPSG:4326). Urban areas were extracted using urban fraction masks and biodiversity layers were spatially integrated to generate a global urban biodiversity potential dataset. The dataset supports SDG 11.7 monitoring, urban ecological planning, biodiversity hotspot identification, and sustainable city assessments.
