Survey Conducted in Connection with the Labour Force Survey 1984: Work 1983

Statistics Norway has conducted official Labour Force Surveys (LFS) each quarter since 1972. The purpose is to provide labor authorities and other interested professional knowledge about the populations labour structure, over a period of time. The studies will provide the basis and statistical material for occupational forecasting and labor market research.This spesific survey was conducted as a supplement to the Labour Force Survey from the 1st quarter of 1984, and can be seen as a continuation of previous studies on employment, conducted in 1975, 1978, 1981 and 1983. A similar study were later conducted for 1985, but not all the data are suitable for analysis. The purpose was to provide a general overview of employment for 1983, give information about absenteeism and job changes and provide a record of the time spent for work and various other activities, such as housework, schooling and military service. The data file also contains variables from the LFS survey of the 1st quarter of 1984.
