Cryptocurrency is increasingly seen as more than just an investment tool, with interest growing in its use as a payment method for everyday transactions. In Indonesia, where digital finance and e-commerce are on the rise, exploring cryptocurrency as a shopping option could open new doors for consumers and businesses alike. This study investigates the factors that influence Indonesians’ interest in using cryptocurrency for shopping, using a model inspired by the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). We examine variables such as perceived usefulness, ease of use, trust, risk, convenience, social influence, financial knowledge, openness to innovation, and technology awareness. By conducting a survey and analyzing the responses with structural equation modeling, we aim to understand which factors most strongly drive or deter the intention to use cryptocurrency in this context. The results will offer insights that could help guide businesses, developers, and policymakers in promoting cryptocurrency as a legitimate and appealing shopping option in Indonesia’s retail sector.
