Morphological disparity analyses of Cretaceous squid species

This file set includes the character matrices and R codes used for morphological disparity analyses of Cretaceous squid species in the publication “Origin and radiation of squids revealed by digital fossil-mining”. The result plots of the analyses are shown in fig. S12 of the publication. The details of each file are described below.
character_matrix_raw.xlsx: A characters matrix of all Cretaceous squid species, which includes all 30 diagnostic characters used in taxonomy.
character_matrix_for_analyses.csv: A characters matrix transformed into a suitable style for reading in R 4.4.2 (The R Foundation).
Gower_distance_calculation.r: A R code for calculating Gower's similarity coefficient of Cretaceous squid species.
Gower_distance_matrix.csv: A distance matrix showing the result of the calculation of Gower's similarity coefficient.
PCoA_calculation.r: A R code for conducting principal coordinates analysis of the distance matrix.
PCoA_results.csv: A table showing principal coordinates for Cretaceous squid species obtained by the above analysis.
