Environmental perception and urban-coastal litter assessment in Chile and Latin America, recorded by the Científicos de la Basura citizen science program (ReCiBa 2018)

Dataset generated through citizen science during the ReCiBa 2018 program, containing data collected by students and researchers in Chile and Latin America through the following samplings: Maps drawing: Students drew their route from home to school, identifying urban and natural elements encountered on the way. Beach drawing before visit: Drawings based on students’ memory of beaches before field visits, analyzing their initial environmental perception. Beach drawing after visit: Drawings made after visiting the beach, used to assess changes in perception after direct exposure. Google Street View: Remote survey of litter presence around schools using circular observation points. Litter-Likelihood Beach Index (LiLBI): Remote assessment of 20 beaches using satellite imagery and risk indicators to estimate litter likelihood. Litter_stops: Street litter assessment along nearby streets of participating schools, including presence of litter and cross-analysis with children's drawings. The dataset includes metadata such as school names, cities, coordinates, and observation dates.
