Mapping of Research on Spanish for Specific Purposes in the Context of Brazilian Postgraduate Studies

Abstract Research on Spanish for specific purposes area in Brazil gained greater prominence in academic realm from the 2000s onwards. Historically, the greatest amount of studies, since the arising of a national project which demarcated the beginning of languages for specific purposes area, included theoretical, professional, and academic studies in contexts that were primarily related to the teaching of English, French and Portuguese languages. Given the lack and late development of investigations that would promote articulation between teaching of Spanish and specific purposes area, we outline as an objective for this article the mapping of Spanish academic studies produced in Brazilian postgraduate programs and how these works demonstrate the paths, theoretical perspectives, and challenges for this scientific field.
