Example imagery survey data and project files to test WISDAM software

This example dataset is designed to support our WISDAM (Wildlife Image Survey Detection and Mapping) software—a free, open‑source application (available at www.WISDAMapp.org) created for researchers conducting wildlife imagery surveys. WISDAM enables users to generate data suitable for abundance estimation and spatial modelling from aerial photographic surveys of marine and terrestrial megafauna.

The example dataset allows new WISDAM users to explore the software’s functionality and features. The dataset includes:

1. Imagery: captured during an aerial survey targeting dugongs (total images = 948)
2. WISDAM project file (.sqlite)

Within the project file, all images have already been manually reviewed, and visible marine wildlife objects have been labelled. The images were also processed externally using our Marine Animal Detector AI model (MAD AI; see www.WISDAMapp.org). The proposed detections from MAD AI were imported into the project file via the AI window, verified, and the true positives were selected and imported as objects.

Users exploring this dataset within WISDAM can use the Compare window to generate a comparison of sightings from the manual review and the AI-assisted review.
