Replication files for "State Heroes, Social Pariahs: A Study on Ukraine War Veterans"

This repository contains the data and replication code for the preprint “State Heroes, Social Pariahs: A Study on Ukraine War Veterans.” The deposit includes the original dataset (Raw_Data.csv) and Stata do-files required to reproduce all numerical results and figures reported in the current preprint. The analysis examines callback rates for paired job applications submitted by conscripts and Ukraine war veterans and estimates the callback-rate difference using Bayesian and frequentist methods. The replication files reproduce:(i) the Beta–binomial analysis of the callback-rate difference,(ii) a Bayesian logistic regression estimated via MCMC,(iii) a linear probability model with job-type and regional controls, and(iv) a classical two-sample proportion test. Separate do-files generate the three main figures in the paper: a sequential evidence plot showing how estimates evolve as data accumulate, a prior–posterior comparison for the callback-rate difference, and an overlay of Beta–binomial and Bayesian-logit posterior distributions. This is a pre-publication replication package associated with the current preprint. If revisions are made during peer review, this repository will be updated to reflect the final accepted version.
