Raw data and scripts needed to reproduce the results as presented in my thesis "Inter-species, spatial, and temporal variability in soil properties of a colony of lesser black-backed and European herring gulls on Texel island". Methods to obtain the data are provided in the supplementary files S2.1-7, as well as soil profiles of the area (S1). A description of the area and sampling set-up is provided the method section of my thesis. First run the DataCleaning.R before running LinearModelling or Kruskal-Wallis_Correlation. DataCleaning builds a useable database from the raw data provided in the SoilProperties.xlsx file. Descriptions of each column are provided in the same excel file, under the tab "Metadata". LinearModelling runs a multi-linear model on the active nest site data. KruskalWallis_Correlation both runs Kruskal-Wallis and Wilcoxon rank sum test between all groups to assess which sampling sites contain different means. The following abbreviations are used: "L" in front of AN, CLS, or ON, or "LBBG" on its' own pertains to a site that belongs to the lesser black-backed gull "E" in front of AN, CLS or ON, or "EHG" on its' own pertains to a site that belongs to the European herring gull "AN" is an active nest site "CLS" is a club site "ON" is an old nest site "CS" is a control site All numeric categories that occur in the database are the same as defined in the metadata in SoilProperties.xlsx. The Rainfall.R script uses Rainfall.txt as input, which then calculates the amount of rainfall that fell one month and two weeks prior to each sampling date.
