Instances of the article "An iterated local search procedure with a probabilistic selection approach for the site-specific management zones delineation problem"

The first stage of the precision agriculture cycle involves soil testing and data analysis to support agricultural decisions. A key challenge at this stage is the delineation of site-specific management zones (SSMZs), that is, the division of a field into zones that are homogeneous with respect to a specific soil property. The resulting zones must be practical for agricultural machinery. We propose an approach based on an iterated local search with a probabilistic selection method that iteratively merges adjacent regions based on statistical similarity and boundary simplicity. The algorithm was tested with the benchmark of instances proposed in the literature, demonstrating robustness, scalability, and competitive performance.
