资源简介:
This report summarizes the excavation of unit 50 at site LA 37767, a Classic Mimbres site in the Eastern Mimbres area of south central New Mexico. LA 37767 is one of three sites chosen for excavation by the Eastern Mimbres Archaeological Project (EMAP) during the 1998 field season. Excavation was completed by graduate and undergraduate students under the direction of Drs. Margaret Nelson and Michelle Hegmon of Arizona State University. Site LA 37767 is situated on a low terrace above the flood plain of Seco Creek. Seco Creek is one in a series of primary drainages in the area extending from the Black Range Mountains in the west, to the Rio Grande valley in the east. The site consists of at least five Classic period roomblocks, identified by observable surface artifacts and architectural features. Unit 50 is in the smaller of the two roomblock chosen for excavation at site LA 37767 during the 1998 field season. Unit 50 is the central and largest of the three rooms that compose the north-south trending roomblock.
