Timely and accurate acquisition of spatial distribution maps of tea plantations and mastery of the variation characteristics of tea planting areas are crucial for ensuring global tea supply and promoting trade stability. Taking 16 provinces across China including Yunnan, Guizhou, Sichuan, Hubei and other regions as the study area, a tea plantation mapping index was developed by integrating the temporal variability of radar time-series data textures and the abundance of phenolic compounds per unit leaf area, and the national 10-meter spatial resolution tea plantation spatial distribution dataset for 2022 was obtained. Studies have shown that the distribution of tea plantations is affected by topographic factors, with a relatively low regional planting density (average 10%). Densely concentrated tea plantation areas are usually located in favorable positions with an altitude of 700 to 2000 meters and a slope ranging from 2° to 18°. China has established two major regions with high planting density, covering the central-western region (e.g., Hubei, Hunan, Guizhou) and the eastern region (e.g., Fujian, Zhejiang) respectively. Although Yunnan boasts the largest tea cultivation area, the planting density and output value of these two major regions are higher than those of Yunnan. This dataset is stored in .tif format, with a compressed data size of 333 MB. The research findings based on the analysis of this dataset were published in *Remote Sensing of Environment*, Volume 303, 2024.
