Charcoal from the fill of a hearth at site 49 GUL-352, Alaska, was submitted for
identification. Fill from charcoal-stained soil underlying the hearth also was floated to recover
macrofloral remains. Macrofloral analysis and charcoal identification will be used to provide
information concerning plant resources utilized by the Ahtna site occupants. Charcoal from
both samples were submitted for AMS radiocarbon dating.
