PRAGMATIC CHARACTERISTICS OF THE FUNCTIONAL-SEMANTIC FIELD OF "GRADUALITY" IN LITERARY DISCOURSE (BASED ON THE STORIES OF O. HENRY AND A. KAHHOR)

This article examines the comparative-pragmatic features of the functional-semantic field of "Degree" (Intensity/Graduality) in the short stories of English and Uzbek writers O. Henry and Abdulla Qahhor. The research determines the development of the characters' emotional states along a graduonimic scale, the principles of linguistic economy, and the pragmatic role of contextual intensifiers in evoking catharsis in the reader.
