Exopolysaccharides (EPS) have been shown to be synthetized by different bifidobacterial taxa commonly identified in the human gut such as Bifidobacterium breve and Bifidobacterium longum subsp. longum, which have been suggested to modulate the interaction of bifidobacterial cells with the other member of the human gut microbiota as well as with the host. In this study, we have evaluated if EPS of bifidobacteria could be associated with higher resistance to antibiotic treatments
