资源简介:
This collection comprises images and GIS data from an archaeological excavation at Warner Bros Studios, Leavesden, Abbots Langley, Hertfordshire. This work was undertaken by Cotswold Archaeology in February and March 2020. Cotswold Archaeology monitored the excavation of a series of trenches prior to groundworks associated with the construction of Stages T, U and V at the Warner Bros Studios site. Archaeological interest in the site is derived from its location within a wider landscape of prehistoric features. The archaeological works revealed four pits located in the north of the site, two of which contained pottery dating to the Middle to Late Bronze Age period. An area of bioturbation close to these pits contained further Middle Bronze Age pottery, with an undated ditch located near the centre of the site, which contained a, likely residual, worked flint blade. Evidence for modern landscaping and truncation of the former land surface, most probably associated with the construction and demolition of the former aerodrome and the subsequent construction of the film studios was identified within the southern part of the site. With similar landscaping overlying and preserving the former topsoil in the northern part of the site.
