We propose to observe the X-ray brightest and one of the firstgamma-ray-detected BAL quasars B3 1520+437 simultaneously with NuSTARand XMM-Newton for exposures 40 ksec and 20 ksec respectively. Theproposed observations will allow us to (i) check whether strong soft X-rayabsorption one of the most prominent characteristics of most BAL quasarsalso exists in the polar outflows and to check whether face-on BAL quasarsare otherwise X-ray normal and (ii) precisely estimate the jet powerlocation of the emission region along the jet bulk Lorentz factor andproperties of the electron energy distribution.
