Global media revenue 2020, by category

Revenue from pay TV and television advertising will account for the majority of global media revenue in 2020, with estimates showing that the medium could generate 400 billion U.S. dollars by the end of the year. Meanwhile, whilst the audiobook and podcast markets will collectively bring in less than five billion dollars, the two categories are by far the fastest-growing in the world. Predictions show that the audiobook market will bring in 3.5 billion dollars, marking a 25 percent increase from the previous year, whilst the podcast market is expected to grow by 30 percent and generate over one billion dollars for the first time.
