On 1 March 2019, a fire started in Mount Kenya on the Tharaka Nithi side. The fire has affected approximately 10,400 acres and is still spreading quickly. Efforts to put out the fire are on-going, though unsuccessful as the fire keeps spreading due to the dry weather conditions<br>
