资源简介:
A winter storm (unofficially named Winter Storm Kenan by the Weather Channel) impacted the Outer Banks of North Carolina on January 29, 2022. Winter Storm Kenan and several prior and later events within January and February resulted in significant impacts to the local communities from coastal erosion and accretion, ocean and soundside inundation, and windblown sand, including the collapse of one house into the ocean and the declaration by the County that several additional homes were uninhabitable. The NEER Association deployed Home and Field Teams to obtain observations of the impacts of the storms. In particular, the Field Team (Ryan Mieras lead, Ashley Holsclaw and Tanner Jernigan) deployed two 3D scanning LiDARs with overlapping fields of view, cameras, an atmospheric pressure sensor, and two wave gauges on and near the Rodanthe, NC fishing pier, and conducted beach surveys in the area. Following the NEER Guidelines, as part of this project a Preliminary Data Report describing the storm and observations is prepared and published as a first step. Following the completion of data collection, the quality-controlled data set will be distributed publicly within one year of the event.
