Recombinant transmissible vaccines will be intrinsically contained despite the ability to superinfect
Transmissible vaccines offer a novel approach to suppressing viruses in wildlife populations, with possible applications against viruses that infect humans as zoonoses – Lassa, Ebola, rabies. To ensur

Seasonal dynamics of the wild rodent faecal virome
Viral discovery studies in wild animals often rely on cross‐sectional surveys at a single time point. As a result, our understanding of the temporal stability of wild animal viromes remains poorly r

Experiment: Fecal samples were collected from black rhinoceroses every two months from five European zoological institutions for one year. The composition of the microbiome, mycobiome, and plant-based residues was measured by sequencing resp. 16S rRNA, ITS, and matK biomarkers from every fecal sample. Additionally, a questionnaire was sent out to the institutions regarding health status (symptoms of disorder, etc) and information concerning the composition of the diet. The study covered five male and seven female rhinoceroses. On top of the microbiome, mycobiome, and plant-based residues inflammation, metabolic and iron status were measured.. Rhinoceromics
In 5 European zoological institutions, samples were taken from black rhinoceroses every two months as part of routine health checks. From April 2021 to April 2022, these institutions were asked to sto
