Eighteen male C57BL/6J mice were randomly divided into three groups: Control group, Model group, and Astragalus membranaceus (AST) group, with six mice in each group. Seven days prior to sleep deprivation, the AST group received gavage (0.5g per mouse), while the Model group received an equivalent volume of drinking water. After seven days of gavage, the remaining two groups, excluding the Control group, underwent a 72-hour sleep deprivation. Subsequently, colon contents were collected and subjected to metagenomic sequencing analysis for all three groups of mice.
