Gene database of Schizosaccharomyces pombe ASM294v2
收藏资源简介:
Schizosacchromyces pombe is a eukaryotic fission yeast that has been used extensively as a model organism for cell cycle research. Also used in traditional brewing, S. pombe is a rod-shaped microbe measuring 3-4 µm across and 7-14 µm long. This work sought to present the genomic information of S. pombe in an accessible Excel based gene database that would find use in a variety of molecular cloning and gene editing studies. Specifically, the Genbank genome file of chromosome I, II, III and mitochondrion chromosome of S. pombe ASM294v2 was parsed by an in-house MATLAB genome analysis software to yield a database comprising gene name, gene function and gene sequence. Overall, the presented gene database should help guide molecular cloning and gene editing experiments, especially in designing spacer sequence for targeting specific genes in generating loss-of-function mutants crucial for functional genomics studies.
