ThispaperprovidesastructuredcomparativeanalysisoflexicaldivergencebetweenBritishEnglish(BrE)andAmericanEnglish(AmE),integratinghistoricallinguistics,sociolinguistictheory,andcorpus-basedmethodology.Althoughbothvarietiesshareacommonorigin,centuriesofgeographicalseparation,politicalindependence,andsocioculturaltransformationhaveledtomeasurablelexicaldifferentiation.UsingevidencefromtheCorpusofContemporaryAmericanEnglish(COCA),theCorpusofHistoricalAmericanEnglish(COHA),andtheBritishNationalCorpus(BNC),thisstudycategorizeslexicalcontrastsintodistincttypes,includingcompletelexicalsubstitution,semanticdivergence,frequencyvariation,andmorphologicaldifferences.Thefindingsdemonstratethatlexicalcontrastsfunctionnotonlyaslinguisticvariationsbutalsoasmarkersofidentityandsocioculturalevolution.Thepaperconcludesthatwhileglobalizationencourageslexicalconvergence,distinctivelexicalidentitiesremainresilientwithineachvariety
