Caucasus Barometer (2008-2024) – An annual household survey on socio-economic issues and political attitudes in Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Georgia

Caucasus Barometer is a regular survey about socio-economic issues and political attitudes conducted by the Caucasus Research Resource Centers (CRRC) in the three countries of the South Caucasus: Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia. The project started in 2004. Representative nationwide data is available since 2008 (before 2010, the survey was titled The Data Initiative). The 2015, 2017, 2019, 2021 and 2024 waves of the survey were conducted in Armenia and Georgia only. in 2020 the survey was conducted in Georgia only. The current version does not include methodological notes for the following survey waves: 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2020. While several core questions in the Caucasus Barometer (CB) survey remain unchanged across different waves—such as those on household asset ownership, attitudes toward doing business with various nationalities, and trust in institutions—other questions vary between waves to reflect the specific socio-political relevance of the time. Sample Design: Multi-stage cluster sampling with preliminary stratification. Survey mode: Computer-assisted personal interview (CAPI). Interview languages: Armenian, Azerbaijani, Georgian The data for each round of the Caucasus Barometer (CB) are provided as a single ZIP file. Each ZIP file includes regional and individual datasets for each country in both SPSS and Stata formats, corresponding questionnaires (regional and individual), methodological notes, and other relevant documents, such as presentations and slides, if available.
