We sequenced a portion of the 16S ribosomal RNA gene from microbes collected in extreme environments of the home. These environments included washers, dryers, freezers, dishwashers, and water heaters. These sequences allow us to identify and classify the microbes in these environments. Our goal was to document the diversity of microbial life inhabiting these extreme environments in our homes.
