Senate Bill (SB) 212 requires mandatory reporting of sexual misconduct to Title IX. Mandated reporters include faculty, staff, administrators, and students in supervisory roles. There is weak evidence that mandated reporting leads to increased attention on sexual misconduct or benefits survivors; evidence indicates that mandatory reporting laws lead to decreased disclosure of sexual misconduct. The present study conducted 7 virtual focus groups and questionnaires among 26 students at a Texas university between July and September 2020.
