Domestic and industrial heating and emissions from a single, large, low-level industrial source are approximately equally responsible for the high concentrations of suspended particles observed in the Rockwood-Harriman industrial corridor at times of poor atmospheric dilution. The air in the industrial corridor cannot support any additional air polluting industries unless coal is discouraged as a means of residential and industrial space heating and corrective measures are taken to reduce emissions from the large industrial source.
