MyNewGut Human Intervention with High Protein Diets

A human intervention trial was conducted in 38 patients to determine the effects of protein quantity and type on human physiological responses as well as resident microbiota from fecal and rectal biopsy samples. After a two week run in period, intervention groups were given supplements high in either casein or soy protein while a control group was given maltodextrin to maintain isocaloric conditions. During the 3 week intervention, urine, blood and fecal samples were taken weekly while rectal biopsies were taken during the beginning and end of the intervention.
