This is the replication data for Grewal, Sharan, and Yasser Kureshi. "How to Sell a Coup: Elections as Coup Legitimation." Journal of Conflict Resolution, Forthcoming. The main data file includes a list of 208 successful military coups between 1946-2014, including a variable ("powercoup") to filter to the 185 power-seeking coups. Also attached are country-year and country-month datasets for robustness purposes.
