VPRS 11369 Teacher Service History Cards - Primary

This series of cards was maintained by the School Personnel branch in order to have a record of all teachers who taught in Victorian State Primary schools. The cards in this series are a basic summary of the information that would appear on a teacher's personnel file and have been kept as a concise and speedy form of reference.Information appearing on the cards includes the name, date and place of birth of the teacher, their qualifications (Institution studied at and year of qualification), an Annual Inspector's report (comprising remarks on the teacher's character and his / her work performance), resignation date, reason for resignation (coded), and the teacher's record number.The resignation codes are:01 - Death02 - Termination03 - Dismissal04 - Dismissal (section 58A, 58(1) or 47 (1))05 - Retirement - Normal (age 55-64)06 - Retirement - Age 6507 - Retirement - Ill health08 - Resignation - Marriage09 - Resignation - Confinement10 - Resignation - Domestic11 - Resignation - Ill health12 - Resignation - Travel overseas13 - Resignation - Travel interstate14 - Resignation - Teach elsewhere15 - Resignation - To become a temporary teacher16 - Resignation - Other employment17 - Resignation - Full time study18 - Resignation - Personal reasons19 - Resignation - Dissatisfaction20 - Resignation - Other/no reason21 - Stand for State election22 - Stand for Federal election23 - Resignation - Transfer to another Department24 - Changed personnel type25 - Transferred to T.A.F.E. teaching service26 - Nil27 - Resignation - Enhanced resignation package28 - Resignation - To change time fraction29 - Resignation - Voluntary departure package30 - Retrenchment31 - Retirement - Age (voluntary departure)32 - Agreement cessation55 - Retirement - Age 55-6077 - Inactive payroll record96 - Studentship relinquished/cancelledThe record number appearing on the cards is Department-wide and matches the employee's personnel file.The teacher record cards were phased out of use in the mid 1980's and were replaced by the Teacher Management System (TMS) database. This information was then updated electronically by payroll changes. In 1998 this information was transferred to the Human Resources Management System (HRMS).In c.1989 - c.1993 the cards of current employees were attached their personnel files. The personnel files became a school responsibility in 1994 and were forwarded to schools in 1995. The card of a teacher who resigned or retired during this period may have been appended to a personnel file, or may instead have become part of this series.Personnel files held by schools are temporary records under PROS 96/13 General Authority for Common Administrative Records. The HRMS database is the permanent personnel record.
