Five treatments of soil sample were collected. The control treatment was consecutive monoculture of banana (BB). The crop rotation treatments were a banana-pepper rotation (BPE), a banana-sugar cane rotation (BS), a banana-wax gourd rotation (BW), and a banana-pumpkin rotation (BPU). The soil site locations at the Feng Xi village farm in Cheng Mai county (20°05'N, 110°10'E).The properties of the soil are as follows: pH of 7.05, organic matter content of 25.64 g kg-1, available nitrogen (N) of 121.45 mg kg-1, available phosphorus (P) of 199.06 mg kg-1, and available potassium (K) of 134.71 mg kg-1.The continuous cropping field had a 4-year (2010–2014) history of banana cultivation, and was chosen as the experimental plot because of the soil and management history. After the end of the rotation in June 2015, a new generation of bananas was planted from July 2015 to July 2016, and the soil samples were collected for soil DNA extraction at the end of the harvest period.In each site, 5 healthy plants at least 5 m apart were randomly selected to collect soil samples. Four random soil samples were drilled to collect the 0-20cm layer.
