Demographic and clinical data
were extracted from digitalised medical records and manually checked and
reviewed if the information was ambiguous. All data were anonymised.
Demographic data, sexual orientation, health insurance status, geographical
origin, time between sexual assault and the ED visit, relationship with the
aggressor, and type of exposure were collected and evaluated as risk factors
for failing to complete a 28-day regimen of PEP. The day and hour of
consultation at the ED (regular work hours [Monday to Friday, 8AM to 5PM]or after-hours
[5PM to 8AM or a weekend day]) were extracted from medical charts
