The goal of this study is to characterize somatic copy number aberrations in tumors induced by chromosomal instability. Conditional knockouts of Mad2 with or without p53 deficiency were generated by crossing mice with a Mad2 flox allele to Albumin-Cre transgenic mice which excises Mad2 in developing hepatocytes. These mice spontaneously develop hepatocellular carcinomas with both whole chromosome instability and focal amplifications and deletions.
