Most common reasons for not buying a pre-owned home in Japan FY 2022

A preference for new buildings was the leading reason for not buying a second-hand home in Japan, a survey conducted between September and November 2022 found. Close to 58 percent of households that built a new home in the fiscal year 2022 stated they felt more comfortable in a new building. Around 28 percent decided against a used home because of the high cost of remodeling and other expenses.
