Comparative Evaluation of Two Herbal Formulas on Gastrointestinal Function and Gut Microbiota Modulation in Dyspeptic Rats Induced by Loperamide Overdose

Dyspepsia, a refractory and prevalent condition, arises from various causes and lacks definitive treatment. Additionally, there is an urgent need for evidence supporting the use of herbal medicine in treating gastroenterol disorders. This study aimed to compare the therapeutic effects of two common herbal formulas, ShihoSogan-Tang (SST) and YiJung-Tang (YJT), on loperamide (LOP)-induced dyspepsia and to investigate their potential mechanisms.SST is suggested to more effectively improve dyspepsia than YJT, prospective through mechanisms involving intestinal hormone regulation, inflammation inhibition, and gut microbiota modulation.
